Alaska Airlines
Alaska Airlines' prompt emergency response underscores their commitment to passenger safety

Alaska Airlines has implemented a system-wide flexible travel policy, allowing passengers to change or cancel their flight without penalty.

After one of AS1282’s plug doors blew out just moments after takeoff on Jan. 5, the aircraft made an emergency landing in departure city Portland, OR with all passengers and crew safe and sound.

However the incident prompted the FAA to ground all 737-9 Max jets pending inspections by Boeing. A number of major airlines in addition to Alaska Airlines have 737-9 Max planes in their fleets, including United Airlines, COPA and more.

Due to Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft inspections and winter weather, we are offering a flexible travel policy if you would like to change or cancel your flight,” says Alaska Airlines on its site.

The goodwill policy has no restrictions as to when the ticket was issued, and applies to original travel dates January 6 – 13, 2024 and new travel dates January 6 – 20, 2024.
