Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has taken delivery of Norwegian Viva, its 19th ship and the second in its revolutionary Prima Class.

A special delivery ceremony took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy with David J. Herrera, president of NCL, and other top executives from NCL and Fincantieri.

Following the ship’s maiden voyage on August 10, Norwegian Viva will sail a series of Mediterranean and Greek Isles itineraries before its official christening ceremony in Miami on November 28, 2023. The ship will homeport in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a season of Caribbean voyages from December 2023 through March 2024, with calls to Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. John’s, Antigua; Bridgetown, Barbados; Castries, St. Lucia; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Accommodating 3,100 guests, Norwegian Viva boasts many of the highlights that are central to the Prima Class as well as many new unique offerings including the at-sea debut of Tony Award-nominated production of ‘Beetlejuice’ and additional evening entertainment programming like Press Your Luck Live, an immersive game show experience that allows audience members to participate in the classic TV show game and win prizes.

NCL takes delivery of Norwegian Viva

Other highlights include The Concourse, an outdoor sculpture garden in Ocean Boulevard, which has been reimagined to include new works from six artists that have been featured on previous Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. ships. A new art addition spanning 52 feet will also be included at Metropolitan Bar, the ship’s exclusive sustainable cocktail bar.
