Nearly 14 million international travelers have landed at airports around Mexico

To date, nearly 14 million international travelers have landed at airports around Mexico. Miguel Torruco Marqués reported that from January to August 2022, Mexico has welcomed 13,757,000 international tourists by air.

He reported that by comparison to last year, this is a 64.7 percent increase and a 4.4 percent increase over the same time in 2019. The largest arrivals continue to come from the U.S., Canada and Colombia with these three countries accounting for 10,693,000 of the 13.7 million air visitors.

Cancun International, Mexico City International and Los Cabos International received just over 10.6 million of those international tourists. Miguel Torruco Marqués, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) pointed out that during the first eight months of the year, more than 8.9 million Americans landed at Mexican airports followed by just over one million Canadians and 559,000 Colombians.

Other nationalities accounted for 3.2 million international air travelers, a figure that has shown a positive increase of 110.9 percent over 2021 and a 23.6 percent increase over 2019.

The Secretary of Tourism reported that between January and August of this year Cancun International counted 6,482,000 international tourists followed by 2,733,000 at the AICM (Mexico City) and 1,478,000 at Los Cabos International.
