FAM Itinerary



Arrive at the Silvio Pettirossi International Airport in Asuncion. Transfer on your own to the 5 star hotel Sheraton Asuncion for the night.



PM departure for a half day tour of the picturesque City of Asuncion. Visit a residential area plus The House of Independence, the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the National Heroes’ Mausoleum, where remains of the greatest heroes of Paraguayan history are resting, the Avenida Mariscal López ending at the handicrafts market of La Recova. Return to the hotel Sheraton for overnight. (B)



Breakfast and depart for a full day tour of Asuncion with its crafts, history, culture and nature which makes this excursion an unforgettable experience. Visit the artisan city of Ita, traditionally well known by the manufacture of the ‘’little chicken of luck’’. Later visit the church of Yaguarón a Franciscan temple of the XVII century. Continue on to the mountain ranges of Paraguarí, visit the historical city of Piribebuy and continue towards the Basilica of Caacupe, the cathedral that is home to the Caacupe Virgin. Later arrive at San Bernardino a summer resort city located next to the famous ‘’Ypacarai Lake”. Stop for lunch and late afternoon, return to Asuncion, visiting the city of Itauguá famous for its woven crafts imitating the spider fabric (Ñanduti and Ao Po’i). Return to the hotel Sheraton Asuncion for overnight. (B & L)

AM Hotel check out. Then begin a city tour of the historic town (Colonia Del Sacramento) and walk through its cobblestoned streets. A few museum visits and walk the famous “Calle de los Suspiros“(Street of Sighs) often used as a site of the film industry for movies or documentaries. The past can still be felt in the city’s cobblestone streets and stone walls. Colonia complements its archaeological values with natural beauty, the permanent company of the River Uruguay and the emblematic monuments that cut out against the horizon, such as the Cathedral and the Lighthouse, and very nearby, the Real de San Carlos bullring too. PM drive to Montevideo and overnight at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel. (B)



AM 3 ½-hour city tour to enjoy Montevideo’s parks, gardens, Cathedral, Theatre and monuments. From the square starts the main commercial street 18 de Julio lined with shops, cafés and office buildings, then Plaza del Entrevero, the Parliament, an immense building that is the pride of Uruguay. You will continue the drive over to the Prado neighborhood, one of the oldest parks and residential area of the city, which hosts the famous sculpture La Diligencia (The Stage Coach), Monument to the last of the indigenous Charrua, the Rose Garden and offers you the chance to spend time around the Prado Hotel. You will continue the city tour over to the Batlle & Ordoñez Park, passing by the Obelisk, La Carreta monument (Covered Wagon) and the Soccer Stadium. Then, the drive will take us to the residential area of Carrasco with a prior stop at Plaza Virgilio, which has a monument dedicated to the fallen Navy soldiers. Tonight a Farewell dinner and tango show at Primuseum a unique restaurant in which gastronomy, culture and Tango combine in the most harmonious of ways. Overnight at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel. Leave Montevideo and drive through the residential areas before entering the highway driving 85 miles to Punta del Este one of the finest resorts in South America; a gateway for the jet set. Make a brief stop at Portezuelo and Punta Ballena for picturesque views. Enjoy the sophisticated architecture followed by a visit to a private Fundación Ralli museum housing Latin American art including works by Salvador Dali. A special visit and lunch at Casapueblo built in 1958 and home of famous artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. The dazzling white complex, resembling Spanish-Moroccan architecture is situated on a rocky bluff overlooking the ocean. Next, you will visit La Barra and its unique undulated bridges.
