Playa Resorts is in constant contact with local government officials and global health organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to maintain the highest standards of prevention. The scale of the global efforts to contain the disease is immense, and they are keeping a watchful eye on the rapid global updates.
Every resort within the Playa Hotels & Resorts portfolio has onsite medical professionals that provide 24-hour service should their guests have any medical needs. All Playa owned and managed properties are also “Cristal” certified, a highly regarded certification related to best-of-class processes for quality and safety.
Heightened Resort Procedures
As a matter of every-day operation, Playa Resorts adhere to strict international guidelines designed to prevent, detect and treat all identified contagions. However, over the course of the last few weeks, they have implemented additional sanitation protocols throughout our resort operations, including increasing the frequency of our deep cleaning of all high touch areas with specialty products and the installation of additional antibacterial gel stations that are readily available throughout each resort for both guests and associates. Further, any associates who present with flu-like symptoms are sent directly to the doctor.
According to Mexican officials, individuals entering the country are asked to provide travel information to Federal Migration Agents and complete a questionnaire about the presence of any of the following signs or symptoms: fever, shortness of breath, cough, sneezing, muscle aches, malaise and headache, among others.
The National Institute of Migration (INM) has implemented preventive and surveillance actions at all points of entry or international transit.

The country of Jamaica recently announced a series of travel restrictions and elevated procedures as of Thursday, February 27, 2020. While there have been no cases of the Coronavirus on the island, the utmost precaution is underway and includes restricted travel between Jamaica and countries impacted with in-country transmission. All those entering the island with recent travel to these countries will be required to an immediate quarantine of up to 14 days.
Jamaicans are strongly advised not to travel to China, Italy, South Korea, Singapore and Iran. Any Jamaican who chooses to travel to these countries will be subject to the quarantine or isolation procedure upon their return to Jamaica. For more information, please visit moh.gov.jm.
As of March 2, the Dominican Republic government has cancelled all flights coming from Milan and implemented epidemiological reviews for all travelers coming from Italy, regardless of nationality, at all airports on the island. The Dominican Republic government has also issued protocols that require every traveler, regardless of origin of travel to be questioned during the point of entry with the objective of identifying potential risk cases of the virus in a timely manner.
